– The Monkees – The Monkees
The Monkees were a rock band/American television series originating in the mid 1960s. The group was composed of Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork.
The Monkees, released in October 1966, was the first album by the group. In the United States, The Monkees was the number one record album on the Billboard 200 for 13 weeks, until it was displaced by the Monkee’s second record album, More of the Monkees, in 1967. The Monkees sold over five million copies and was certified quintuple platinum by the RIAA. The big hit from this album was Last Train to Clarksville.
